What is .um?
A ccTLD only goes live when a manager applies to IANA and the delegation is approved. Until then, United States Minor Outlying Islands uses other domains — usually the ccTLD of the country it's associated with.
.um FAQ
Can I register a .um domain?
No. .um is not delegated, so there is no registry selling names under it.
Why does .um exist if it isn't used?
Every ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code is eligible to become a ccTLD. IANA lists .um because the code is assigned to United States Minor Outlying Islands, even though no delegation has happened.
