What is .мон?
IANA delegated .мон on August 17, 2013, as part of the effort to let people use domain names entirely in their own script.
A little context on Mongolia: the capital is Ulan Bator, the main language is Mongolian, the currency is the Mongolian tögrög (MNT) and the international dialing code is +976. It's landlocked.
Next door on the map, you'll find .cn for China and .ru for Russia.
IANA lists Datacom Co.,Ltd as the manager of .мон, with an address in Mongolia. The registry's website is https://www.datacom.mn. ccTLD managers set their own policies — who can register, which second-level names exist, pricing to registrars — so those rules differ from country to country.
Under the hood, the root zone points to 2 name servers for .мон, none of them with an IPv6 address. The delegation is DNSSEC-signed, so resolvers can verify that answers for .мон haven't been tampered with on the way. Registration data is published over WHOIS (the WHOIS server is whois.mn).
Mongolia also has another country-code domain in the root zone: .mn.
